The Consell d´Eivissa has started a campaign against illegal renting in Ibiza, asking for the collaboration of the citizens to expose the properties that are rented illegally.

The residents of the island can now report the illegal arrangements they see and in that way, collaborate against fraud through an instance in the `Registro de Entrada´ or by sending an e-mail to inspeccio.turisme@conselldeeivissa.es

The Director of Tourism of the island has explained that there are currently over 3000 ads for renting a house on the island (according to data found by an informatics tool), and around 2300 of these ads don’t publish the registration number of their touristic establishment, which should appear according to the current touristic regulations.

This campaign includes working together with people who work as touristic informers. They take care of calling the people who publish the renting ads to let them know that it is mandatory to publish the registration number, and they also meet in person with the presidents of the neighbouring communities, informing them of the steps to follow in case they want to report illegal renting, as well as teaching them how to spot it.
