We’re so passionate about Formentera. So passionate in fact, that when the good weather arrives we’ll find any excuse to hop on a ferry and forget all our worries whiling the hours away on its glorious beaches. By bike, moped, boat or in a citreon mehari… there are so many different ways to discover this little piece of paradise… Here we suggest our 30 Must do Activities while in Formentera (at least once in your life).
1 Rent a bike and take a trip around Illetas beach, blue summer style.
2 Cross the island on a moped: from Cap de Barbaria to La mola, and from there to Illetas.
3 Take in the island from the Faro de la Moda heights.
4 Take in the sunset from Faro de Barbaria.
5 Forget all your worries exploring its inner countryside.
6 Grab a coffee, beer, or whatever in San Francesc.
7 Make your very own stone sculpture in the Faro de Barbaria and make a wish, (Formentera being the majocal place that it is, it’ll definitely come true).
8 Visit the famous Faro de Barbaria caves, where they filmed the movie ‘Lucía y el sexo’.
9 Take a walk along the old roman road (Camí de Sa Pujada) in Es Caló, and enjoy the magnificent views from its cliff tops.
10 Grab a coffee or enjoy a romantic meal from the view point of Formentera. No doubt, one of the most inspiring views of the Island.
11 For her: rent a Mehari and head around the island Thelma and Louise style.
12 For him: substitute the mehari for a quad bike. Guaranteed fun!
13 Listen to some live music in the town squars of San Francesc and San Ferran…).
14 Travel through the Island exploring market after market (San Francisco, La Savina, Es Pujols, San Ferrán, La Mola) Be careful, it’s tough to leave empty handed.
15 Dust off your 60s get up, to give it all at Flower Power party of San Francesc (an if you want to keep going, check out the parties in Es Pujols, La Mola… the list goes on. Check out the calendar here.
16 Take a quick dip in Cala Saona.
17 Have an impromptu picnic or few beers at the Punta Prima cliffs.
18 Get lost along the dirt roads to find the hidden beaches, like Caló des Mort.
19 Go snorkelling at Cala de Sant Augustí (take a pair of wet socks, you’ll need them).
20 Cross to s´Espalmador by Kayak (only if you’re fit enough and have the time).
21 Take in a sunset drinking a mojito in the Flipper and Chiller roof top terrace in Migjorn.
22 Jump waves (on those days when there’s a wind) in Levante beach.
23 Admire the stone sculptures at the beach museum at the end of Illetes.
24 Spend the night going from beach bar to beach bar.
25 Wacth the color game of the sunset reflected on the salt mines.
26 Grab a huge ice-cream at the Mukkería (San Francesc).
27 Get a taste of the true Formentera in the typical beach bars of the island like the Kiosko Barloto (in Mitjorn) or the “people” at Es Pujols beach.
28 Take your photo beside the most famous fig tree on the whole island, known as “Na Blanca d’en Mestre” (on the road of La Mola).
29 Feel like a true Robinson Crusoe on some of the deserted coves (you’ll find them once you go off the main roads).
30 This in our opinion is by far the most important: Realise that you don’t have to go far to experience truly virgin landscapes and authentic beach paradises.
