Oh no. August is here: the island is full of tourists. There’s scarcely space for another towel on the beaches, roads are jammed and your whole life comes to crawl. Parking in the center is more difficult than cross the Niagara on a bicycle, and to top it off you, you live in Ibiza, so you have to work as if there were no tomorrow.

Don’t despair. With patience you will easily survive the horrors of August at work in Ibiza. To help you do so, along with some virtual encouragement, we’re here to give you 5 top tips (based off of our humble experience).

1 Make the Most of your Down Time

I know, you’re thinking “what down time?” you don’t see much of that, but if you don’t’ wish to die trying to “make the season”, you must learn to manage and prioritize your breaks ahead of the super tempting plans that may arise.

2 Be Careful in Choosing which Parties to Attend

Obviously, you’re likely not to have the time nor the money to attend every party you’d like. Choose the best, learn about discounts and freebies for residents or check in with your contacts to get free tickets to the clubs. Or you can also enjoy the live music in Ibiza.

3 Have Clear Financial Goals

You, like many, are probably working in Ibiza during the summer to save some monies for a rainy day. Or maybe you’re lucky enough to work here throughout the year. Either way, we all know that the White Island boasts an endless list of appetizing plans, many of them not being exactly cheap. It is important to keep your financial goals in mind at all times (that trip that you both want to do, the race in which you want to enter or that car you want to buy you). You must be strong and say “NO” to some of those temptations.

4Avoid the Most Touristy Places

If you live in Ibiza, you have the good fortune of enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches and sunsets, that would shock and amaze at any time of year. Therefore we recommend avoiding the tourist attractions during the high season. It is the ideal time to escape the crowded beach clubs, and blue flag beaches to go in search of hidden nooks and bars hidden in the heart of the island.

5 Enjoy Ibiza

Yes… we know… you work like a mule when everyone’s on holidays, and you can let it get you down, or you can pick yourself up and take a minute. You live in one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, where 1000’s want to spend their holidays. Even if you work 20 hours a day, it is important that you appreciate how lucky you are to live in a place like Ibiza. Take a swim at the beach after work, enjoy your favorite festival on your day off, give that water sport you’ve always wanted to try a go, meet people from all over the world … In short: enjoy Ibiza and make this summer one to remember.
